Skagway, Dewey Lake – Alaska

For the avid hiker or trail runner, this one’s for you 🙂 ! A short walk from where the ship docks, you will find the starting point for Lower Dewey Lake and Upper Dewey Lake.

Lower Dewey Lake is an easy 20min walk, there’s a small elevation area, but then completely flat. The lake is Huge and there is a lovely trail that takes you all the way around, whilst being surrounded by snow-capped mountains, fresh air, high trees, and the sounds of nature.

Upper Dewey Lake is for the more adventurous… and also the fit 😉 with an elevation of about 1000m over a mere 5km. But it is So Worth It!!! Probably one of the best and most beautiful hikes we’ve ever done! While the (very well kept) pathway zigzags up the mountain, it keeps you close to a beautiful waterfall. The water is so fresh that it is safe to fill up your water bottle there. Upper Dewey Lake was breathtakingly beautiful! Remember to take something to keep you warm at the top! There is quite a difference between the temperature at sea level and at 1000m!

It must be said… it was JP’s first time ever to touch snow 😀 so it was a big day for us! Happy days my love xxx
